Pan-Seared Sesame Salmon with Garlic Butter Shrimp

Ingredients

For the Salmon:

  • 2 salmon fillets (6-8 oz each, skin-on preferred)

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (white or black)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Garlic Butter Shrimp:

  • ½ lb large shrimp (peeled & deveined)

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)

For Serving (Optional):

  • Steamed jasmine rice or quinoa

  • Sautéed greens (like bok choy, spinach, or asparagus)

  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

1. Marinate the Salmon

  1. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil.

  2. Brush the marinade over the salmon fillets and let sit for 5-10 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle both sides with sesame seeds, salt, and black pepper.

2. Sear the Salmon

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Place salmon skin-side down and cook for 4-5 minutes, until crispy.

  3. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.

  4. Remove from the pan and let rest.

3. Cook the Shrimp

  1. In the same pan, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat.

  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Toss in the shrimp, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.

  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  5. Squeeze in lemon juice and garnish with parsley.

4. Serve & Enjoy!

  • Plate the salmon with the shrimp on the side.

  • Serve with rice, greens, and lemon wedges.
