Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
8-piece chicken (legs and thighs) or preferred chicken parts
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp seasoned salt
1 tsp black pepper
Optional: A pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika for extra flavor
For the Breading:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp seasoned salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
For Frying:
2 cups vegetable oil
Instructions:
Season the Chicken: In a small container, mix the seasonings and sprinkle evenly over the chicken pieces. Let them sit for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Prepare the Breading: In a large bowl, combine the flour with the same seasoning blend used for the chicken. Stir well to distribute evenly.
Coat the Chicken: Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, pressing gently to help the coating stick. Let the coated chicken rest for a few minutes to allow the breading to set.
Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350-375°F.
Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
Drain & Serve: Remove from oil and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy your crispy, flavorful Southern fried chicken!
